The Stranded on a Deserted Island Trope
The Push Button Heads find humour just a few degrees from the equator.
I’m enjoying the workshops that New Yorker cartoonist Liana Finck offers her subscribers. Recently she had us create our own “stranded on a deserted island” cartoon. The trope apparently is a right of passage for every cartoonist aspiring to have a gag joke published in the magazine. My partner is just impressed that I managed to pull this one together in under an hour. Maybe that’s why they’re so popular.
In other news, the above GIF animation is my latest experiment playing with motion curves and shape transitions. I’m teaching myself Adobe After Effects this summer, an animation tool I’ve wanted to master for year but always found too intimating.
