The 100 T-Shirt Challenge Continues
More wild shirt ideas from the creator of the Push Button Heads cartoon. We're a third way there to hitting our goal of 100 by the end of the summer.
If you’re just tuning in, here’s my elevator pitch for the project. Last week I started sketching out rough ideas for new t-shirt concepts with the goal of getting 100 out of my system in one focused blitz. I won’t turn all of these into actual t-shirts, but my hope was that the sheer volume of sketches would create space to try out new ideas without getting too precious about refining each one right away.
The point was just to start drawing. And even if I didn’t like the direction of one of my doodles once I started scratching it together on the page, I made a point to finish the sketch and move on to the next. I’m already noticing patterns and recurring themes in the designs, as earlier sketches play off each other and inspire some of the later ones. Others, such as #24 and #26 below, were the equivalent of palate cleansers (although maybe a random grid of dots is exactly the surface pattern the t-shirt fashion industry needs).
After all 100 shirts sketches are done, I’ll go back and pick my favourites and refine them further. So if some shirt ideas in this series stand out to you or make you laugh, and you think they’d be would be worth wearing in real life, I’d love to know. Please leave me a note in the comments! 🙏
